Mission Statement and Goals
The mission of the Alameda Community Alliance Resource for Education (C.A.R.E.) is to foster a safe and welcoming environment for all students in the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) by supporting children of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) families and students who identify as--or are perceived by others to be--lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or gender non conforming.
Goals:
1. Provide resources to the school district to ensure the success of LGBT-
oriented curricula.
2. Collaborate with community based organizations working on parallel issues.
3. Develop parent/community groups for support and advocacy.
4. Coordinate pro bono legal support for the school district on LGBT- related
issues as needed.
5. Connect LGBT youth and families in the community and schools with
appropriate faith-based supportive resources.
